Penguin boxes and Rat traps
This week, great progress has been made. Will and Rachel, our volunteers, are still here, a bit of hill work apparently doesn’t scare them.
More traps to be placed but the end is in sight.
Today eight penguin boxes have been put in place, more to go but a wonderful start. Tomorrow a start will be made putting in steps to make the track easier to walk for people that like to visit the penguin boxes.
The weather has been amazing this week, clear nights and beautiful sunny days, the birds love it too, Spring is definitely in the air!
Chase the predator control dog is doing well. Lately we have been catching even some stoats so she gets lot’s of training. Leona and Liam will drag the dead rat or stoat over the forest floor and hide it. A little while later Chase will try and find it, she is a natural and really enjoys doing it.
