20 geckos released in their new homes
It was a beautiful calm day, perfect for a boat trip to Maud Island from where we picked up the 20 Gecko's.

After a word from Brian and a blessing from Raymond Smith, the Ngati Kuia representative, the gecko's were released in their new homes.
Eleven of them went in one enclosure and nine in the other, both enclosures measure about 3 x 3.5 metre, so plenty of space.
There were gravid reptiles included so we hope to have young ones in the not too distant future.
The young ones will be eventually released in our biodiversity project. This is part of the 'breed for release' programme.
We like to thank DOC, especially Peter Gaze and Mike Aviss for the paperwork and Chris Birmingham for collecting the gecko's from Maud Island, and the Koha (gift) from Ngati Kuia, especially Raymond Smith, without their help it wouldn't have happened.

And we like to thank everyone else that took time out to come and witness the reptile transfer.
