Macquarie Island
February has been a mega busy month as Leona, who was 'back up' to go to Macquarie Island had the call that one of the dog handlers was unable to go.
Together with her dogs Bail and Chase she is on the ship and would hopefully arrived yesterday (Sunday the 3rd of March) on Macquarie.
She will stay till the end of the year and have to comb over every meter of the island to find any traces of mice or rats before the island can be declared 'pest free'. We will miss her but this is an opportunity of a lifetime. All the best, Leona!
