Getting ready for wild Kakariki for breeding purposes
This week we have collected all the Kakariki that have found a great home not far from us in Hopai (Pelorus).

Volunteers Amber and Nathan are getting the aviary ready. Esmae is helping them out.
Loads of work done...
This week we have collected all the Kakariki that have found a great home not far from us in Hopai (Pelorus).

All ten birds have settled quickly and feasting on the fruiting trees.
Thanks Kristen and Mike for picking them up (even catching them, nothing goes easy at Tui) and for your lovely fruit and plants, much appreciated.
Once the birds were gone we had to get to work, everything needs to be prepared for the wild birds that arrive beginning April. They will be caught on Long Island.
Our permit for holding wild Kakariki for breeding purposes has arrived too, so we are ready for it.
