A welcome home...

After 16 months on Macquarie Island Leona has arrived back home, it is wonderful to have her here again! But of course work goes on, we had to pick up 12 beautiful Giant Wetas, breeders for the next season.

Stu who works on Maud Island, collected them and dropped them off by the wharf and after a short boat ride we could release them in their new enclosure. (Thanks Chris for organizing this.)

The Wetas will be split in two or three groups (harem) to give them the best change for breeding.

After that we looked after the Kakariki who are getting a grand treatment as it turned out they are rather fussy eaters, we pull out all stops to feed them different kinds of foods to work out what they like and letting them get used to new food.
