The new pups for the ‘conservation dogs’ programme have arrived!
They have been named Maia (meaning brave and couragous) and Bailian, or as we like to call him, Bail the terrible.

This week we finally had some seasonal weather, with fog in the Inner Sounds and lovely crisp, sunny days. When the fog is lifting it is absolutely stunning on the water!
Last week we were visited by the Wyatt family. Simon kindly donated his time to do mechanical maintenance on our vehicles and boat. Through this way we would really like to thank Simon, Pip and Josh for their time and skills. You are wonderful!

Some pictures of the latest storm that struck Tui Nature Reserve just after Christmas.
This year, one of Tui Nature Reserve’s main priorities was to build a permanent water source for the native bird and lizard life. Two ponds so far have been built and are on the way of completion, with a third one planned for next year. The largest of them was created in a natural water hole near the plateau forest. For this reason, the pond was the hardest to create, due to the masses of water that gushed through it whenever it rained.
Recently we have been joined by at least a couple of Shining Cuckoo’s, one unfortunately mistaken our window for a free passage but luckily after half an hour was on its way again.
